The ITT was a 15k out and back TT with some rolling terrain, 1 screaming downhill and a nice little leg burner of a climb in the middle on the way back. I did not have the ride I was hoping for, coming up short. My effort was less than stellar and I definitely had a lot left in the tank. Oh well, some days it is easy and “enjoyable” to suffer and others it just sucks and it is easier to just settle in and have a nice easy ride, well today was that day. I raced about 8K out of the 15K. I managed a 22nd placing, the times were pretty close with the exception of the winner who smoked the field. Steve Blackman is the only other HZ rider racing this weekend and he put down a great effort and good time rocking a road bike with some clip-ons that he hated.

The Giro di Jersey has turned out to be a really great stage race. The competition has been good, the organization has been great and the courses really fun. It has been hard going up against some of the biggest regional teams with only Chad and Steve. This race is going to be huge. With the race courses around 1 hour from Philly and close to NYC too, this will get bigger and has potential to become a major player in the SR scene. Good to see teams coming from New England and elsewhere to make this first year SR an awesome race.

What makes this team strong is that we learn from mistakes and capitalize on them the next time. We raced really well the entire race, except at the end we messed up a little. No big deal, this weekend is another race. One things about crits as EJ says is luck, alot of luck and skill of course, but lots of luck. It was still alot of fun, and we as a team will bounce back this weekend. Look for the HZ/PBR teams in Bloomsburg for the RR on sat. and Crit on sunday.
