Tim Carabin - 2nd Place 1/2 road race The PA STATE ROAD RACE was held in Roboson Township, PA on a very challenging 12 mile loop with a bunch of climbing, nothing to steep, most of it was very gradual but there was a lot of it and an occasional steep section. The race drew about 40 riders to the 95 mile race in which we had 6 riders line line up. The race went off stupid early ( 7:00 AM) and with the cold of the morning dew in the air riders immedietly starting attacking. About 1/2 way through lap 1 a small group of 4 formed up the road with our rider Kevin Fryburger in the group. Quickly attacks were made in attempts to get across to the group, Chad hitched a ride with 2 other riders and after a few efforts they were across. The group with 6 strong and trading working well ( except for the Team Independence rider who stinks). Pretty soon the gap had increased and the group had grown to about 10 or so with HumanZoom representing 1/4 of the break with 4 riders. Chad, Louis and Keving worked at the front for most of the race never missing a pull and trying to motivate the riders who were there for a free ride ( again, stinky dude from Team Independence). With 2 laps to go a small move of 2 riders went up the road and they hovered for a bit at about 8 seconds until Tim Karabin from Humanzoom attacked hard and made the jump across the gap. That was the move that sealed the deal for the escapes up the road. Chad and Louis were now free to rest and watch as the rest of the remaining break worked to chase down the 4 up the road. With 1 lap to go the break containing Tim had a decent size gap and they were going to fight it out for top 4 places. Tim finished an impressive 2nd and Chad sprinted out of the remaining break for 8th missing 6th by a wheel length or so. Louis flatted with about 3K to go in the race but rode one hell of a race. The BAR competition is still heating up with Rich Straub doing a great job to keep his 1st place spot well protected.
